God's children

preschool childrenThe Sunday Preschool of Religion is designed specifically for the three, four and five year old child.  The goal of the program is to guide each child to a loving relationship with God, our Father, in a process where each discovers self-confidence as a unique and special child of God.

children's handsActivities are programmed according to the level of psychological development and religious readiness of the preschool child. Faith and basic moral development are growth processes which cannot be imposed from without. At this stage, the child’s spiritual development is experiential in nature. Through activities and experiences of everyday living, the child will be led gently to the ultimate discovery of a loving Father-God, who has given His children a beautiful world to discover, explore and to enjoy as well as basic prayers are shared with the children.

The Sunday Preschool of Religion is offered during the 9:45 a.m. Mass, October through May at the St. Pius X School Classrooms K-2. It is a parent participation program in which parents assist in the classroom once or twice a month.

All parishioners are invited to share their faith with the little ones of our parish community.  Preschool children must be potty trained for admittance into the program.

Purpose Statement

Childcare at St. Pius X Catholic Church is a part of the Religious Education Ministry as a mission of St. Pius X Catholic Church and offered as a service to members and visitors of the church.  It is provided to care for children in a safe and nurturing Christian environment so that parents may participate in mass with peace of mind.  We take the Psalmist seriously when he says; “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  (NIV Psalm 139:13,14).  Each child is truly special and a unique gift from God. Our program is designed to foster the social, spiritual and physical needs of the children we serve, and is founded on the belief that a young child’s first church experience is a very important building block in his faith foundation. Children can experience God’s love by the care they get and the relationships they form in His house.

Nursery and Childcare

A child’s first experience in a church building and in a faith community impacts all future understandings of the church. It is our commitment to make sure that those first experiences are positive and nurturing. It is especially important that parents take a moment to familiarize themselves with our handbook which are available in the Nursery.  Feel free to contact our staff if you would like a tour of our facilities, have any questions or need further explanation of procedures, guidelines or responsibilities.
